New Hampshire Disability Parking Laws

  • Qualifying conditions include inability to walk without assistive devices, lung disease with forced expiratory volume less than 1 liter, Class 3 or Class 4 cardiac condition, or severe limitation in walking ability due to arthritic/neurological/orthopedic or other disabling condition.
  • A licensed physician must certify your condition on Form RDMV130 with a brief description of the medical condition and how it limits your ability to walk.
  • Permanent placards are valid for up to 5 years (expire on same date as driver’s license or ID).
  • Temporary placards are valid for up to 6 months.
  • Unauthorized use can be reported to local police. Making false statements is subject to penalties.
  • Placards are assigned to individuals, not vehicles, and are nontransferable.
  • The placard must be displayed on the rearview mirror when parked and removed when driving.
  • You may park free in any state or municipal parking areas that charge fees.
  • Each qualified individual may receive either two placards OR one placard and one walking disability license plate.
